Tuskegee Warhawks

Tuskegee, Alabama, was home to a civilian flight training center before the United States entered World War II, but in 1941, it was the setting for an experimental military program to train black servicemen as pilots, navigators, bombardiers, and aircraft mechanics. Combating both racial animosity and the German Luftwaffe, the Tuskegee Airmen triumphed over both.

They formed the highly decorated 332nd Fighter Group that served in the Mediterranean theater, and they also produced an excellent baseball team that played other service units from around the country.
