The Oldest Player to Enter the Major League

Satchel Paige

Once the color barrier fell, older Negro League heroes, such as superstar Satchel Paige, also had success in the Major Leagues. Paige, whose age was always a bit of a secret, was 42 years old when he made is debut for the Cleveland Indians in 1948. 

His record stands to this day of being the oldest player enter the National League or American League. Paige was 59 years old when he played his last major league game, another record that still stands.

He held his own by notching six victories against a single defeat as the Tribe went on to win the World Series in 1948.
