Book Review: HEY BATTA BATTA SWING!
This is a great children's book for teaching a kid about the history and the colorful language of baseball.
The illustrations by Ross MacDonald are filled with action and have a nostalgic edge that kind of feels like reading through an old-time comic book.
Interspersed between the main copy and the illustrations are definitions of baseball slang. The accompanying illustration on the same page usually relates to the definition in some way such as the one above of the player getting drilled by a "frozen rope."
This book is highly recommended for any players of Little League age. Older kids should be able to read it on their own; for younger kids that like baseball it will make a fun bedtime read by mom or dad.
